There are several aesthetic procedures which can reshape the breast, thighs,
abdomen and other parts of the body. The type of surgery best for you will depend
on your age, size, and skin tone of the area to be treated.
Suction-Assisted Lipectomy / Ultrasound-Assisted Lipectomy
Many women experience the frustration of being unable to get rid of fatty deposits around the thighs, hips, and abdomen, no matter how much they diet or exercise. Often caused by an inherited genetic tendency or due to pregnancy-related weight-gain, these problem areas that do not respond to traditional methods of weight loss are usually effectively treated by liposuction. Scars from the procedure are minimal. Ideal candidates have localized deposits of fat which do not respond to diet and exercise, have good skin elasticity, and are at or near their normal weight. It is important to remember that diet and exercise are crucial to maintaining the desired look, and that this procedure is not a substitute for weight reduction.
Tummy Tuck
Excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen can be removed with a Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty). This procedure also tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall and dramatically improves the appearance of a protruding abdomen. Women in particular have a hard time strengthening these muscles after changes associated with pregnancy have stretched their abdomen to the limit. Weight loss can also cause loose skin in the abdominal area, which may be resistant to toning by exercise. Tummy tucks can be performed as an outpatient procedure, but some patients may be more comfortable staying in a hospital facility overnight.
Central
Body Lift
Pregnancy and weight fluctuations can dramatically affect the shape of womans tummy, hips and thighs. While exercising does help strengthen the underlying muscles, it is often difficult to get rid of he excess skin and fat pockets that are present.
If there is extreme sagging of the skin on the abdomen, hips, and buttocks, a procedure called a Central Body Lift can be performed in conjunction with a tummy tuck. This procedure is designed to tighten loose skin to obtain more youthful contours by lifting the buttocks and tightening the hips and abdomen. This is accomplished through a strategically placed incision that can be hidden under a bathing suit.
Thigh Lift
A thigh lift, thighplasty or excisional
thigh lipectomy, is a procedure which addresses
a range of problems in the inner thighs, such
as: excess fat deposits, loose skin, weak
muscles and stretch marks.
Thigh lift is a common plastic surgery operation
for the removal of loose skin after massive
weight loss following successful bariatric
surgery. It may also form part of a body lift -
a more complex plastic surgery procedure which
combines tummy tuck, thigh, and buttock lift.
Thigh lifts may combine surgical excision with
lipoplasty.
Arm Lift
With the effects
of time and frequently following weight loss,
both men and women can lose skin tone. This loss
of tone can be very obvious as excessive,
hanging skin on the underside of the arm. The
excessive skin is sometimes associated with fat
deposits in these areas as well. In some
individuals, the underside of their arms may
appear more full than
they would like and this may be because of
excessive fat.
For individuals
who have good skin tone and disproportionate
amounts of fat in the arm, liposuction may
provide adequate treatment. The skin in these
individuals will usually retract appropriately
following treatment. The arm lifting procedure
is performed to remove excessive skin and
usually fat to restore a more youthful
appearance to the arms
