Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammoplasty) helps to correct breasts that are overly large and sagging, a condition that can cause back pain and severe discomfort in other areas. An improved appearance is an added benefit of the operation.

Procedure
An anchor-shaped incision is made around the areola and under the breast, following the curve of the crease, leaving nipples attached to their blood vessels and nerves. Fat and tissue are removed, and the nipple and areola are moved into a higher position. The skin is then tightened around the areola to shape the new breast.

Recovery
  • After surgery, an elastic bandage or surgical bra is worn over gauze dressings for comfort.

  • You will be up and about in a day or two. Some pain may be experienced for a few days, especially when moving or coughing. Breasts may ache for a couple of weeks.

  • Avoid heavy lifting for three or four weeks. Non-strenuous work and activities can be resumed in about two weeks.
